About the event

  1. To provide an overview of the unique healthcare needs and experiences of LGBTQI+ individuals and the factors that contribute to health disparities in this population.
  2. To develop an understanding of the principles of health equity and cultural competency and how they apply to the care of LGBTQI+ patients.
  3. To learn strategies for providing inclusive and culturally competent care to LGBTQI+ patients, including how to create a welcoming and safe environment, how to ask about and respect patients' preferred gender pronouns and names, and how to address specific healthcare concerns.
  4. To identify and address personal biases and stereotypes that may impact the care provided to LGBTQI+ patients.
  5. To explore resources and strategies for addressing health disparities and advancing health equity for LGBTQI+ patients, including how to advocate for policy and system changes.
  6. To apply learned concepts and strategies in practice through case-based learning and skills-based exercises.
